Without personal responsibility for choice there can be no permanent life changes. Nevertheless, this is not to say that guests and families of guests who have completed the Jude Thaddeus Program© cannot have contact with the Jude Thaddeus Program© directors and staff after completion of the program, but any contact (whether it be e-mail or phone correspondence) is completely voluntary and is at the guest’s or guest’s family’s request. The Jude Thaddeus Program© rejects any philosophy that is meant to instill fear of relapse through terms such as “relapse prevention,” “addiction triggers” or the standard brain and body addiction disease propaganda. Teaching people how to think for themselves is the natural way people have overcome incredibly difficult problems throughout human history. “Addiction” is not new to our society, but our Western cultural preoccupation that “addiction” is difficult to overcome, is new. Before brain scans and genetics were popular terms, millions of the most “addicted” overcame their troubles and adjusted to life without treatment. This still holds true today. The Jude Thaddeus Program© curriculum is based on these realities. The Jude Thaddeus Program© holds fast to the proven fact that anyone can overcome any problem, whether it be alcohol problems, drug problems, past traumas, or just simply poor choices and counterproductive ways of dealing with situations.  The Freedom Model© as expressed in the Jude Thaddeus Program© is in direct opposition with all the other “alternative programs” that use keywords and phrases that imply freedom from “addiction” but simultaneously state that a client must be careful of relapse and that the client “needs” their model of “recovery.” In many industries this veiled threat is called a bait (freedom) and switch (but you need to be evaluated and treated by us.) The Control Model programs nationwide are filled with these dishonest and conflicting marketing campaigns.  In stark contrast, the Freedom Model© as taught in the Jude Thaddeus Program© is based on common sense and all the proven methods to overcome problems that have existed throughout human history. Being free means just that; total freedom. The Freedom Model© teaches the guest to create freedom for themselves; freedom from alcohol and drug problems, freedom from pain, freedom from self-doubt, and freedom from the controlling methods of the conventional 12-step and the more recent alternative to 12-step treatment programs. Control Model programs want to say the client will be free, but always with a caveat, be careful relapse is possible. It does not have to be that way.
