A day The Saint Jude Retreat House of Lake Algonquin
Each weekday morning begins with an optional trip to a local fitness club at 7:00AM. Continental breakfast is set out by 8AM every morning, but the kitchen is open and available to all guests 24 hours a day. Jude Thaddeus Program instruction sessions are an hour long and run from 9AM until Noon and from 1PM until 5PM. Each guest can expect two one-hour long instruction sessions per day for the first section of the program. More personal study time and writing is required as guets progress through the program, as well as one-on-one time with an instructor. Classes are located in a private, comfortable setting and are kept small and personal. Monday through Saturday a buffet lunch is served promptly at NOON and a buffet dinner is served at 5PM both prepared by our professional cooking staff. Sunday is "Family Day" where family is welcome and encouraged to visit, if possible. A brunch buffet is served from 9AM to 11:30AM, and formal dinner buffet at 2:00PM. (Guest Supplies List)
There are social activities provided throughout your stay. Summertime in the Adirondack region presents opportunities to head to the local beach (a short walk from the Retreat), go on nature walks, bike, and play basketball at the local park, fishing and much more. Autumn is breathtaking with the colors in the surrounding hills so vibrant and the air getting crisp and cool. During winter time enjoy ice skating, sledding, or relaxing walks around this sleepy Adirondack village. Movies, bowling, shopping, museums, picnics and snow-tubing are just a few of the planned activities throughout the year that bring guests and staff together. Holidays are a special time when guests' family and friends are invited into the Retreat to participate in the festivities. It is always nice for families to meet one another. Many lifetime friendships begin at the Retreat House. (Click Here for a Complete list of all the social activities offered at the Retreat House)
Outbound Experiences
If you have never hiked to the summit of a picturesque mountaintop, this is an experience you won't want to miss. Staff guides lead guests up one of the many peaks in the Adirondack Mountains. There are different levels of difficulty so the majority of guests are able to enjoy in this challenging, yet potentially life-changing experience. Each guest has the opportunity to attend three outbounds (weather-permitting) during their stay.
Nightly Seminars
Motivational, educational or inspirational seminars are provided four days in a week. All twenty guests come together to watch former guests, teachers, various staff members who work throughout our company, or outside visitors speak on a specific topic for up to an hour each evening. The seminars begin at 6:30PM. Speakers are available after each seminar to speak to guests one-on-one to answer questions or discuss their topic on a more personal level. After seminar there is time for socializing, homework, and reading, watching movies on our large screen television or watching television in one of our cozy parlors. The house is quiet by 11PM and all guests are asked to be in their rooms by 12:30AM.
